Literature of the American Ethnic Enclave: Chinatown
Students will examine the literature of an American ethnic enclave, in particular the American Chinatown from 1850 to the present. What historical factors led to the creation of the American Chinatown? What literature came out of Chinatown from the first generation immigrant to the baby boomer generation? How does the Chinese American experience relate to other American ethnic enclaves?
