Finish reading MP2 sources and prepare your proposal:

MP2 Proposal--Post on discussion board by Monday, 11/9, 7 p.m. Respond to two proposals with brief evaluative comments. Post, again, on assignment sheet, Tuesday evening. Note any specific concerns for which you would like instructor feed back in the right-margin comment box.   

  • Post on Canvas discussion board Monday, 11/9, 7 p.m. 
  • Respond to two proposals—brief evaluative comments—by 9 p.m., same evening.
  • Post to Proposal "Assignment" by 9 p.m., Tuesday evening, 11/10.  

Reminders: Schedule your MP2 tutor appointment for no later than 11/17. (Spaces fill quickly near quarter end!) Keep records for MP2 Writer Reflections!

In-class sign ups: 

MP2 Paper Presentations (three presentation times): Be prepared to sign up for one presentation time and attend one other as a peer responder.

  • MP2 Evening Presentations: Odegaard Room 333 from 4-6 p.m. (seating is limited, so only a few of you can sit in as responders)

Wednesday 11/18: MP2 Morning Presentations:

Outcome Four Presentations: Be prepared to sign-ups for one Outcome-four presentation group on Monday. Depending on sign-ups, we will probably designate 5 groups out of 7 choices, so consider more than one group you are interested in. Strengthen weak areas—in other words, do not sign up for a punctuation group if you are a grammar king or queen! J You will have some time to workshop in class. Presentations will be Monday, 11/23.

Group 1. Commas

Group 2. Semicolons, colons, dashes, parentheses

Group 3. Paper organization / reorganizing drafts

Group 4. Stylistic techniques—anaphora, alliteration, etc.

Group 5. Exploring logical fallacies

Group 6. APA / MLA review / sources

Group 7. English Language Learner (ELL) best helps: UW resources, Ginger, etc.

MP2 First Draft and abstract:  Friday, 11/13, by 9 p.m.  This draft must be at least five pages and include your abstract.

  • FINAL PAPER:  Thursday, 11/19, 9 p.m.
  • MP2 Writer Reflections: Peer, Tutor, and Instructor Response—a short reflection on your incorporation of peer and tutor feedback. Keep a record! Post on Canvas following your instructor conference (no later than 11/25). 
  • SA4 artifacts 1 and 2:  Post by Sunday, 11/22 (record keeping--not graded).
  • SA4: Final Reflection and all attached artifacts:  Sunday, 11/29, 9 p.m.

    Focuses on the study and practice of good writing: topics derived from a variety of personal, academic, and public subjects. Includes a service-learning component allowing students to engage with and write about social issues in applied ways.. Cannot be taken if student has already received a grade of 2.0 or higher in either ENGL 111, ENGL 121, or ENGL 131.
