Syllabus Description:

Weather & the City

The University of Washington is in a city perhaps infamously known for its weather. But as unremarkable as they may seem, daily weather phenomena also come to us heavily mediated through means as close to the average person as a smartphone app and as distant as global debates on climate policy. This course gets to students to think in particular about the challenges of making decisions for uncertain futures as well as the kind of social change that is interconnected with climate change issues. The second sequence of the course gets students to think in particular about weather in the U District community based on their service experiences.
