Syllabus Description:

Welcome to English 111. In this course, we will familiarise ourselves with college-level academic writing by studying several works of the cyberpunk / science fiction genre. The main focus will be on textual and visual analysis, and through intensive inquiry and examination, we will generate coherent and complex arguments about the texts that contribute to an ongoing critical conversation. Keep in mind that academic writing is not a solitary process, and that this course involves more workshop activities than lectures: through class discussions, group collaborations, and peer reviews, we will exchange ideas and improve our writing together.

  • Philip K. Dick, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
  • Blade Runner: The Final Cut
