ENGL 298 E: Intermediate Interdisciplinary Writing - Social Sciences

English 298E (MWF 11:30-12:20) is a composition course linked with Prof. Mosca's JSIS 200 in Autumn 2018.  English 298E may be used toward the "C" or "W" requirement (whichever you need) and is part of a First Year Interest Group.

Being "linked" means that assignments in English 298 are based on readings, lectures and assignments in JSIS 200.  In English 298 you will have an opportunity to develop your reading, research, writing, revising, and editing skill and confidence.   You will work with UW Librarians on the research skills you need for this course (and for college research in general), and you will get feedback from the English 298 instructor on major assignments before you turn your work in for a grade.   

Students who take English 298 writing links with JSIS lectures say the English 298 link develops the way they think about writing, enables them to enjoy the writing process, and improves their ability to read and respond to their own and their peers' writing.  Students also find that English 298 contributes to their learning in the JSIS lecture, and to their ability to make connections between their academic work and current events.
