The Chorus: Artistic Responses as Academic Discourse

Participants: Brittney Frantece, Rasheena Fountain, Nanya Jhingran & Danielle Brown

The Chorus: Artistic Responses as Academic Discourse is an interdisciplinary collective space toward inclusive educational practice. At the core of The Chorus is rethinking the student-teacher feedback loop by empowering artistry as a response to text across a variety of text genres in the classroom. BIPOC EWP graduate instructors get together with BIPOC graduate instructors in other departments to collaborate and model creative responses to a wide range of texts (maps, video, literature, etc.) in the form of poetry, visual arts, multimedia, and so on.

The sessions are meant to render a potential curriculum for future EWP instructors, community educators, and faculty to implement in their classrooms as an alternative to the traditional written feedback responses. After the collaborative sessions, we will develop and disseminate curricula and snippets of video from the sessions on a webpage. The Chorus’s website will allow instructors to engage with the curriculum and with our creative process through blogs, lesson plans, and videos.
