Our Mission:
The Program in Technical and Professional Communication (PTPC) offers high-quality courses and a minor that teach UW students how to communicate ethically, accurately, clearly, and concisely about technical topics in a variety of technical genres with a variety of technical tools. Through our curriculum, the PTPC prepares students of English, the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and engineering to think critically about the roles of technology and communication to thoughtfully apply their research, writing, and rhetoric skills in their studies and in their careers. In a addition to teaching students in the classroom, the PTPC prepares students for leadership roles in careers in technology and communication by fostering industry and academic partnerships and by developing career pathways.
Key Value: Critical Thinking About Communication and Technology
PTPC situates itself as a leader within the growing field of technical and professional communication by contributing research and pedagogical innovations and by collaborating with technical disciplines at the UW.
