Syllabus Description (from Canvas):
The course examines the fates of the language known as Serbo-Croatian, on the one hand, and, on the other, of the languages known as Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian. Concepts such as language death and language birth are explored. The relation between the concepts of dialect and language is analyzed. Notions of language politics, language standardization, and language codification in Southeastern Europe are analyzed.

Advanced work in cultural studies. Prerequisite: ENGL 202 and ENGL 302.
