Submitted by Jacob Dwaine Huebsch on May 4, 2018 - 3:03pm
Dear EWP teachers and staff,

With the support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Collaboration Grant from the UW Expository Writing Program, we developed a teacher’s guide website for teaching with the frameworks of language difference, communication across difference, translingualism, issues that affect multilingual populations, and topics that challenge the monolingual English norm. Below you will find event details:

During this forum, we will launch the website “Materializing Translingualism in the Writing Classroom”, introduce available resources (syllabi, lesson plans, class activities, readings, etc.), demonstrate how these resources can be applied to various writing classrooms, and answer questions regarding pedagogical implications of translingualism .Our hope is that this teacher’s guide website (“Materializing Translingualism in the Writing Classroom”) would be a resource for instructors teaching any kind of writing course--first-year, advanced composition, interdisciplinary writing during college, or high school and college-prep writing.

Time: 10:30-11:30 am Friday May 11
Location: Conference room of Center for Teaching and Learning (Gerberding Hall 156).

If you have any question, feel free to contact Zhenzhen He-Weatherford (hezhenzh@uw.edu), Sumyat Thu (smthu@uw.edu), or Sara Lovett (slovett@uw.edu). We look forward to having you at our forum!
