Expanding Access and Engagement in the Undergraduate Classroom with Poll Everywhere

Hosted by CIC and the Expository Writing Program

When: Tuesday, April 23, 10:30-11:30,

Where: The Simpson Center for the Humanities

Facilitator: Nanya Jhingran

In this workshop, we will mobilize digital applications such as Poll Everywhere in service of increasing classroom access and engagement across small discussion classrooms. We will first walk through the various options embedded in Poll Everywhere such as open-ended surveys, multiple choice polling, game show style quizzes, word clouds and question-banking. Then, I will provide examples of a couple classroom activities that have used Poll Everywhere to open up classroom engagement. The final portion of the workshop will include time for instructors to adapt an existing lesson plan to include Poll Everywhere and time for questions and collaborative brainstorming. Instructors and TAs from across campus are welcome to attend, the workshop will not be disciplinarily specific.
