Teacher Talk - Graceful Assessment: Valuing Our Own and Students' Labor

The Expository Writing Program and Critical Classrooms invites you to join Teacher Talk, this Friday, November 20th from 11:00-12:00 titled, "Graceful Assessment: Valuing Our Own and Students' Labor".

As part of EWP’s Critical Classroom Series, Teacher Talk is a pedagogy conversation series that provides a space for graduate instructors, faculty, and staff to share innovative and equitable practices, discuss praxis, and build a supportive teaching community.

You are invited to an informal discussion circle about assessing students' work, especially during uncertain times. This Teacher Talk will:

  • Discuss strategies for equitable assessment that considers both our mental, physical, emotional capacities, as well as those of students.
  • Discuss strategies for collaborative grading and negotiations between you and students, care and ethics behind assessment and providing feedback, negotiating reasonable expectations of yourself and students.
