Rory is an Appalachian-born, transhistorical researcher who focuses on monstrosity, sexuality, and the weird. Currently, their research focuses on Frankenstein and texts around the novel, leading up to, in reaction to, or in the wake of Shelley's work. Some of their other research has surrounded Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, eroticism in Virginia Woolf's writings, and lesbian writers like Patricia Highsmith. In addition, Rory is a member of Superscripts, a paleography club at Virginia Commonwealth University, that has run transcribathons and has made contributions to publications like the Donne Variorum.
