Rene is a lecturer at the University of Washington, where they research late medieval romance and early modern drama. They specialize in the environmental humanities and the materiality of textual manuscripts, and as such several of their past projects have focused on the connections between animals, women, and text. Rene continuously seeks to improve their pedagogy, and has repeatedly used their research as a means of sparking discussion in the classroom, where they aim to help students find their critical voices.
