This paper examines the relationship between live audience and comedic performance, taking into consideration pre-existing audience communities and how they function as a group in a physical space. Drawing upon Daniel Howell’s stage show, We’re All Doomed, I explore how the comedic style utilized both falls into and deviates away from that of typical stand-up, as well as how the community of the audience expands and constricts the show’s impact in different ways.
